MONTICELLO, NY — Members of the Monticello Police arrested Nigdrew L. Reynolds, age 29, of Monticello, NY on Sept. 26. Reynolds was charged with the felonies of Attempted Robbery in the 1st degree, Criminal possession of a weapon in the 3rd degree and Assault in the 2nd degree. He was also charged with the misdemeanor of Menacing in the 2nd degree.

At 4 a.m. Sept. 26 Monticello Police responded to a report of a disturbance at the “INN @ MONTICELLO” located at 392 Broadway in the Village of Monticello. 

Upon arrival of Officers, they encountered Reynolds, who was walking in the parking lot and holding what appeared to be a silver and black handgun in his hand. 

Reynolds dropped the gun to the ground after being ordered to do so by Officers. Officers recovered the gun which was a realistic looking BB gun. Reynolds was then taken into custody. Officers were then approached by a 43 year-old Monticello man who stated that Reynolds had just attempted to rob him at gunpoint. 

The victim stated Reynolds had walked up to him the parking lot, displayed what appeared to be a handgun and ordered him to turn over his property. The victim stated that Reynolds then forced him to walk up to the 2 nd floor balcony with the gun pointed at his head. The victim then began struggling with Reynolds, during which he was struck several times about the head with the gun causing physical injuries.

 Reynolds was then arrested by Officers in the parking lot while he was attempting flee. Reynolds was arraigned in the Village of Monticello Justice Court before Village Justice Douglas Solomon. Reynolds was remanded to the Sullivan County Jail without bail pending further court action. Monticello Police were assisted at the scene by NYSP and the Sullivan County Sheriff Office.
