Monticello man arrested for burglary

MONTICELLO, NY — Members of the Monticello Police arrested Justus L. McMoore age 37 of Monticello on Oct. 1, McMoore was charged with the felony of Burglary in the 3rd degree and the misdemeanors of Possession of Burglar tools, Criminal Mischief in the 4th degree and resisting arrest.

At 1:38 a.m. Oct. 1, Monticello Police responded to an activated motion alarm at Business located on Forestburgh Road in the Village of Monticello. Upon arrival, Officers discovered a broken window on the side of the premise and could hear movement inside. Officers announced themselves and advised the individual inside to surrender. The individual realizing Officers were now outside, kept running back and forth inside the premise looking for exit to escape. As Officers entered the business, the individual inside, later identified as McMoore, dove head first out the broken window that officers had first observed upon arrival. McMoore then got up and attempted to run from officers and after a brief struggle was taken into custody.

McMoore was arraigned in the Village of Monticello Justice Court before Associate Justice Leo Glass. In accordance with NYS Bail Reform guidelines, McMoore was released on his own recognizance pending further court action.
