Learn about dementia-related behavior at WMH

Posted

HONESDALE, PA — Wayne Memorial Hospital (WMH) will hold a free educational program at 5 p.m. on Thursday, February 29 for family members and care partners of people living with dementia. Presented by the Alzheimer’s Association of Greater PA, the presentation will be held in the hospital’s David Katz Conference Room.

Behavior is one of the primary ways people living with dementia communicate their needs and feelings as the ability to use language is lost. However, some behaviors can present real challenges. Participants will learn to decode these messages, identify common triggers and develop strategies to help manage some of the most common behavioral challenges.

According to federal statistics, close to six million people in the United States have Alzheimer’s disease and related dementias.

The Alzheimer’s Association of Greater Pennsylvania offers information, advice and support. The program is free and open to everyone. Registration is not required but is recommended. To register, call 800/272-3900.
