REGION — Until mid-August, the Town of Wallkill Boys & Girls Club coordinates with host sites to collect backpacks and school supplies that the team distributes to families before the school year kicks off. It's a way of fostering brighter educational journeys for young minds.
The River Reporter office in Narrowsburg is one of the Sullivan County collection sites. Jeff Bank in Liberty, Resorts World Catskills in Monticello and the Sullivan Catskills Visitors Association in Liberty are others.
"Backpacks for Hope makes a profound impact on families in our community year after year," a spokesperson said.
The mission of the Town of Wallkill Boys & Girls Club is to provide kids in northern Orange and Sullivan counties "with a safe place to learn and grow alongside caring, adult professionals, and offer life-enhancing programs that help them be kind, confident, and capable."
If you are interested in contributing toward this effort but cannot visit one of the host sites, you can still donate money or in-kind items.
