Well, January has finally hit us with lots of different weather this past week. That will hopefully be great for all the upcoming ice fishing events that are happening in our community and nearby.

Well, January has finally hit us with lots of different weather this past week. That will hopefully be great for all the upcoming ice fishing events that are happening in our community and nearby.

Smugglers Nob annual Youth Ice Fishing Tournament will be held on Mitchell Pond in Cochecton, NY on Sunday, February 4 from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. in memory of Gerald “Jerry” Bruce Sheppard.

Parents, bring all the kids out for a fun-filled day of ice fishing. All kids fish for free. There will be food and beverages for all kids who participate; food and beverages will be available for purchase for adults. All children will be eligible for prizes. 

Fishing regulations will be in accordance with the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation. The fishing access will be located at 175 Mitchell Pond West Rd. Transportation will be provided by club members; no outside ATVs or UTVs are allowed. Registration will take place upon entry.

Mahogany Ridge Hunting & Fishing Club will hold its Ice Festival and Pig Roast on Saturday, February 17 from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Sand Beach, 348 Lakeview Drive Rd. in Highland Lake, NY. Admission is $25 per person and the cost for kids aged 12 and under is $15. Stop by for a great time with family and friends as well as raffles and prizes for all ages.

The Sullivan County Conservation Club is proudly presenting the King of the Ice Fishing Contest on Sunday, February 18 from 6 a.m. to 3 p.m. on White Lake/Kauneonga Lake. Registration, weigh-ins and awards will take place at the White Lake Fire Company, 1596 Rte. 17B. Youth aged 15 and under enter free with a paying adult. Up to $2,000 total cash and prizes will be available.

Waterways Outdoors is holding the second annual Lake Superior Ice Fishing Tournament on Saturday, February 3, beginning at 6 a.m. The cost is $60 per adult; for kids aged 10 and under, the fee is $10.
