YOUNGSVILLE, NY — As President Barack Obama once said, “Democracy is a garden that has to be tended.”
The work of four artists, Marjorie Morrow, Miriam Hernandez, Gail Tuchman and Alexis Siroc, comprise “Four/For,” an exhibit dedicated to democracy. The works are on display at Domesticities, and will remain open to the public until Sunday, October 9.
On Saturday, October 8, beginning at 2 p.m., Domesticities will host a conversation with the artists.
The four artists “celebrate artistic expression as a basic freedom,” said Morrow. “The exhibit’s diversity of work, in itself, represents that fundamental belief.”
Some pieces, like “Freedom Bleed,” she said, address specific political themes; others find a metaphor for democracy in the garden, as per Obama’s quote.
The show was created to support local Democratic candidates. A portion of the sales will be donated to the Sullivan County Democratic Committee.
Domesticities is located at 4055 State Rte. 52.
