WAYNE COUNTY, PA — June is National Dairy Month! We celebrate this month to honor all of the hard-working dairy farmers in the community, in the state and in the nation.
These farmers work from dusk to dawn to care for and produce nature's most perfect beverage.
You can celebrate National Dairy Month by indulging in your favorite dairy products, such as ice cream or cheese.
During this month, go and thank a dairy farmer for what they do.
In honor of National Dairy Month, I would like to share my homemade strawberry milk recipe.
2 cups of strawberries, hulled and diced
1/4 to 1/2 cup sugar
1 2/3 cups water
5 cups milk, cold
First, place all ingredients except the milk in a medium pot over medium-high heat. Bring to a gentle simmer and cook, stirring often, for 8-10 minutes. Remove from heat.
Strain the cooked strawberry mixture through a fine-mesh strainer into a clean bowl. Once all the juice has been strained out, discard the strawberries. Allow the juice to cool.
To make a single serving of strawberry milk, mix together 1 cup of cold milk with 3-4 tablespoons of the juice. Stir or shake.
Store leftover juice in the fridge up to 2 weeks. Shake well before serving.
Enjoy!
