She was due on December 2, but family history suggested she might be late. I was late by more than a month (probably a miscalculation) and both my children were 10 days late. The finalized rules issued by the Delaware River Basin Commission (DRBC) for the treatment of fracking wastewater in the river basin, and the export of water for fracking elsewhere, leave numerous loopholes that still allow for contamination. Since such wastewater is known to contain both radioactivity and so-called “forever chemicals” recently deemed by the EPA to be dangerous to health at any concentration, such contamination would be effectively irreversible. more

While on a winter walk recently, I was focused on the icy ground when I found a face peering back. “Pay attention!” it seemed to say as I made my way safely home. Several days later, another “face” appeared when I took the dogs for their first outing of the morning. It cast a smile on a gloomy day, offering a change of heart and a fresh start. more
