A headline in a local newspaper a few months ago was “Aging Agency Director Did a Great Job.”  It was no surprise that this headline referred to Robin Skibber, who retired as executive director of our Pike County Agency on Aging after many years of dedicated public service focusing on the needs of area senior citizens.  A courageous person who was an outstanding executive director, Robin is now a candidate to fill the recently vacated seat as Representative for the PA-139 legislative district.  

Robin is highly qualified for this position and I wholeheartedly endorse her.  

A proven leader and problem solver whose track record is exemplary, Robin:

*Expanded services in every Agency on Aging program. 

*Increased the number of community senior centers from two to five.

*Instituted a cost share of in-home services to be good stewards of the Aging block-grant dollars.

*Served along with her staff as trusted agent for seniors transitioning to the managed care service environment, by educating, supporting and assisting them in this process.

*Spearheaded with me and other disabled community leaders the much-needed transportation program for people with disabilities prior to the state’s rollout for the rest of the counties.

*Collaborated with employment programs to enable people aged 55-plus to return to the workforce.

*Effectively advocated at the state level to maintain PA Lottery funds for much-needed senior services.  

Robin knows firsthand and will not forget what seniors and disabled citizens experience every day.  She will be our voice so that we will not be forgotten, and we will be judged on the basis of our abilities rather than our ages or disabilities.  

I urge you, your families and friends to elect Robin Skibber to the PA House of Representatives for the 139th District on April 23.
