I sit in this tunnel,

Numb in the dark.

It’s mysterious and complex,

Resembles my heart.

The ground above,

Wants to cave in.

Like the weight of my past,

And regrets from within.

A light in the distance,

The freedom sublime.

But, it’s so far away,

It will never be mine.

I walk all alone,

From dusk until dawn.

Because, I’ve hurt those around me,

So, now they’ve all gone.

I cast a faint shadow,

On the cold, broken walls.

There are many rooms,

And hundreds of halls.

Etched in these walls,

Are faces I know.

The ones that I hurt,

Begin to glow.

The memories intrude,

In floods of regret.

The doors start to open,

Ones I tried to forget.

And the words that they spoke,

That tore me down.

I used as stones,

To build this town.

I’ll walk for years,

In the silent space.

Because, it’s up to me,

To destroy this place.
