MONTICELLO, NY – Sullivan County became the first county in the state to activate the New York State Security Operations Center (NYSSOC).
The cyberattacks targeting public and private sectors are increasing in sophistication and frequency, said Lorne Green, commissioner of Sullivan’s Information Technology Services (ITS) Division and chief information officer. “In Sullivan alone, we face close to a billion cyber events every month,” Green said.
Located in Brooklyn, the NYSSOC is the nation’s first-of-its-kind cyber command center. Its mission is to provide a statewide view of the cyberthreat landscape, and coordinate threat intelligence and incident responses. It operates around the clock.
