MONTICELLO, NY — DA Meagan Galligan announced that Lorenzo Wilson, 34, of Monticello, was arrested on June 9, following the early morning execution of a search warrant prepared by her Office and executed by the Sullivan County Sheriff’s Office, New York State Police, US Department of Homeland Security, Village of Monticello Police Department and District Attorney’s Investigators. The arrest is part of a coordinated and ongoing investigation into illegal activities in Monticello.

Sheriff Mike Schiff announced that police seized three loaded handguns, one of which had previously been reported stolen, as well as more than four ounces of heroin/fentanyl, more than five ounces of cocaine, more than three ounces of MDMA, commonly known as ecstasy and more than eleven thousand dollars in cash at a location on York Avenue in the Village of Monticello.

Wilson was charged with several felonies, including Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the Second Degree, Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the Third Degree and Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the Second Degree.

DA Galligan said, “Every law-abiding member of our community deserves to feel safe at home, work and school. Operations like this should serve as a warning to those who traffic in guns and drugs: Sullivan County’s law enforcement community will do everything in our power to hold you responsible for undermining our public safety.”

Sheriff Mike Schiff said, “We hear our community loud and clear. The violence and drug dealing on our streets has not gone unnoticed. We will continue to use every tool available to us, including our valuable partnerships with other law enforcement agencies to confront these problems head on.”

New York State Police Major Paul DeQuarto said, “The State Police stands ready and committed to assisting our law enforcement partners with arresting and holding those accountable who sell illicit drugs and possess illegal firearms in Sullivan County.”

U.S. Department of Homeland Security Acting Special Agent in Charge Ricky J. Patel said, “Any amount of any deadly drug that we seize and every single gun confiscated is another mechanism for the destruction that will not reach our streets. HSI stands ready to assist our state and local partners as we work together to put a stop to drug and gun trafficking in our communities.”

Wilson was arraigned and remanded to the Sullivan County Jail in lieu of $100,000 cash, $250,000 secured bond or $300,000 partially secured bond fixed by the Town of Thompson Justice Court.
