Robert Timozek, 76, of Galilee, PA, passed away on Monday, March 27, 2023, more than two years after a diagnosis of pancreatic cancer.

Robert (Bob) was born on July 8, 1946 in Brooklyn, NY to John and Mary (Malicki) Timozek, of Ukrainian descent.

As a boy he lived on South 2nd Street in Williamsburg, relocating to Middle Village, Queens, once his family purchased their first home. He would later meet his future wife, Margie, only steps from his front door while a teenager.

Bob attended Aviation High School in Long Island City, and worked in construction after graduating, until he was drafted into the Army, where he served as an MP in Germany.

Upon returning from service, Bob began his career for the City of New York Department of Corrections. He served for 20 years, eventually achieving the rank of Captain. Along the way, he earned his bachelor’s degree in Behavioral Science in night school, while also working full-time during the days, and providing for his wife and two children, Marlene and Rob.

In 1988, Bob retired from the Corrections Department, moving on to work at Christ the King High School for 13 years as a security guard, and then later accepting the role of Warden in the Wayne County Prison, where he served for three years until he fully retired.

Bob enjoyed spending time with his family and hosting friends at their home in Galilee, taking meticulous care of his property, as well as traveling with his beloved wife to Lancaster, PA; Florida; and beyond.

Bob is predeceased by his parents John and Mary Timozek, and siblings Joan Trainor and John “Sonny” Timozek. He is survived by his wife Margie; daughter Marlene Mugge and husband Ric Mugge; son Robert Timozek and wife Stephanie Christie; and grandchildren Lauren, Kate, Stephan, and Kai; and by their supportive extended family and dear friends.

Visitation was held at Hessling Murray Funeral Home on March 30.  A Mass of Christian burial was celebrated on Friday, March 31 at St. Mary Magdalen Church in Honesdale.  Interment will be in Hillcrest Cemetery at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Pancreatic Cancer Action Network.
