SEEDS Reads

HONESDALE, PA —SEEDS Reads is a new community reading program that will feature volunteers reading to audiences of all ages in various community settings about topics related to the SEEDS mission.

The new program will also include a book club and the establishment of Little Free Libraries in local communities.

A meeting to determine the next steps for this new project will take place on Saturday, February 15 at 1 p.m. on the second floor of the Cooperage. This meeting directly follows the Cooperage’s farmers’ market from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.

‘Oh Deer’ call to artists

NARROWSBURG, NY — The Narrowsburg Union Gallery is looking for artists with a body of work with deer as the subject. All mediums are welcome, and artists may submit up to eight pieces. This call is open to all artists who have a connection to the Upper Delaware River Valley.

The gallery is also looking for snapshots of car incidents for a “deer collision wall” collage display. Deer photos may be submitted in .pdf or .jpeg formats. 

Submissions will be accepted until Sunday, February 23. The show opens on Saturday, March 7.

Honesdale baseball and softball registration open

HONESDALE, PA — Online registration is now open for the 2020 spring-summer season of baseball and softball. To avoid late fees, parents and guardians must register their children before Friday, February 28.

The season begins at the end of April and goes through mid-June. Practices will begin in early April. 

Registration costs $50 for the first child and $35 for each additional player. Baseball is open for players ages 4 to 12. Softball is open for players ages 4 to 18.

Grey Towers offers internships

MILFORD, PA — Applications are being accepted for numerous unpaid college and post-graduate internships at Grey Towers National Historic Site. 

College students interested in parks and recreation, history, gardening, horticulture and landscape architecture, museum services and forestry are encouraged to apply. Housing on the historic estate and uniforms may be provided.

Are you registered to vote?

REGIONAL — There will be several opportunities to ensure eligible voters are properly registered and prepared for primary day on Tuesday, April 28. 

In addition to the president, Pennsylvanians are also electing a congressman, an attorney general and an auditor. The last day to register is Monday, April 13. 

Volunteers will be ready to assist new voters at the Cooperage on Saturday, February 15 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., the Callicoon Farmers’ Market on Sunday, February 16 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. and at the Hawley Silk Mill on Tuesday and Wednesday, February 18 and 19, from 10:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m.
