DELAWARE TOWNSHIP, PA — More than $165,000 was awarded to local fire companies and ambulance corps through the Fire Company and Emergency Medical Services Grant Program.
“As former mayor of Stroudsburg, I know the important roles that emergency responders play in our communities,” said Pennsylvania state Rep. Tarah Probst (D-Monroe/Pike) when announcing the grants. “We all owe them a debt of gratitude for the services they provide during our time of need. These grants will enable them to buy needed equipment, acquire necessary training and improve their facilities.”

The money is distributed by the Office of the State Fire Commissioner. It can be used for facility upgrades, equipment, debt reduction, training and certification, education and public outreach, and recruitment and retention efforts. Additionally, fire companies are permitted to apply for construction savings accounts for new facility construction.
