Walt was an avid hunter and fisherman. He was the former proprietor of Walter G. Akt Inc., Excavating.

Walter G. Akt II of Pond Eddy died on July 23, 2022 at home. A lifelong resident of Sullivan County, he was 85. Son of the late Walter and Hildegarde Akt, he was born June 7, 1937 in Sparrowbush, NY. Walt was an avid hunter and fisherman. He was the former proprietor of Walter G. Akt Inc., Excavating.
Those who knew him grasped his personal true grit, listened to his wisdom, and often walked away having learned something new. He always spoke of his many stories that should be written down in a book one day and titled “Root hog or die!” A strong, proud and good man, he is loved and will be greatly missed.
