TOWN OF TUSTEN, NY — A tree felled by a midwinter storm has been resting on Frontier Communications phone and cable lines for many weeks now.

The trunk leans so heavily on the lines, it hangs over the guardrail and shoulder. Travelers headed to Narrowsburg in Route 97’s northbound lane might wonder if the line will suddenly give way and the tree clip them as they drive past.

Town of Tusten Supervisor Ben Johnson told the River Reporter the tree and pole are on Frontier’s to-do list. He doesn’t know when the work will be done.

He said the situation is not as dangerous as it looks.

One of Frontier’s utility poles also broke during the storm and must be replaced. “If they took the tree off, it might be more dangerous,” Johnson said.

Frontier did not return several messages requesting comment.
