All school buildings in the Monticello Central School District were evacuated today in response to a bomb threat.
In a statement this morning, the district said students and staff were taken to reunification sites, and from there were to be transported home by bus or picked up by their parents. School officials said parents were not allowed in the school buildings.
The district said it followed its safety plan after learning about “a generalized bomb threat towards its schools.”
“Building administrators will be contacting families shortly with more specific information for reunification,” the statement said. “This is a fluid situation, more information will be shared as it becomes available.”
All high school students in BOCES CTE programs were to remain at BOCES until buses became available to bring them home or until their parents pick them up.
As of 11:07 a.m., middle school and high school walkers and student drivers were to be dismissed directly from the school.
