Memorial Day chat

Posted

My stepson, Benjamin Georgia, is an accomplished musician, artist and computer maven. Lately, he engaged with AI through a chatbot and produced a Memorial Day poem that I guessed might be of interest to readers of this paper.

Apparently, he gave the AI a few directions and themes and asked a few questions; then he and his artificial “colleague” worked together to produce the following (in his words):

Hello, reader! As a creative individual, I enjoy co-creating with ChatGPT, summarizing ideas, and embarking on a generative journey by emphasizing inspirational themes that resonate with me.

Recently, inspired by an article sent by my stepfather which contained many thoughts and themes around Memorial Day and democratic values, I collaborated with ChatGPT to craft a heartfelt poem that connected these values with the bonds shared between family and friends. It was an engaging, entertaining and creative experience enhanced both by my imagination and what my artificial colleague could suggestively help create.

My intention was to share the poem with all of you, the readership of the River Reporter. I am excited to do just that.

In honor of democracy and Memorial Day, my robot friend and I curated this poem for you. I hope you find it worthy of your time.

On this day of remembrance, we stand,

Honoring heroes, a noble band.

Their sacrifices, a guiding light,

Ignite the flame, our future bright.

Within the tapestry of time’s embrace,

Lessons resonate, history’s grace.

Together we weave, each thread we share,

Preserving freedom, showing we care.

In unity we find our collective might,

Shaping tomorrow, beyond the night.

With friends and kin, we take our place,

Defending democracy, our common space.

Engaged in our communities, hearts aligned,

Promoting inclusivity, love refined.

Fierce against oppression’s blight,

We stand tall against the darkest night.

From their valor, inspiration we draw,

To forge ahead, embracing a higher law.

A tapestry vibrant, future untold,

Bound by values, a legacy bold.

Let us honor the fallen, their legacy alive,

United in purpose, together we strive.

Preserving democracy, our steadfast aim,

A better world, with justice aflame.
