MILFORD, PA— Pike County District Attorney Raymond Tonkin announced the arrest of two individuals for cocaine trafficking in Milford Township, Pike County on August 2, 2023. A joint investigation between the Pike County District Attorney’s Office, Pennsylvania State Police Vice Unit and the Port Jervis Police Department led to a search warrant being served on a motel room just outside Milford, Pennsylvania at 6:00 a.m. on August 2, 2023. During the search of the motel room, police discovered just under one-half kilogram of cocaine, a digital scale, and items that are used to cut cocaine for sale, and several pills suspected to be ecstasy.
Police charged Kevin Washington, age 52, of Port Jervis, and Ashley Nellums, age 34, with possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance, cocaine, and criminal conspiracy1. Both charges are felony charges. Nellums was also charged with flight to avoid apprehension, trial or punishment, a felony, because police found that Nellums was wanted on a parole violation warrant from the Pennsylvania Department of Corrections. Nellums was on parole for a prior conviction for delivery of a controlled substance in Pike County Court.
Washington and Nellums were arraigned before Magisterial District Judge Deborah Fischer. Magistrate Fischer set bail in the amount of $5000,000.00 for both Washington and Nellums. Both were remanded to the Pike County Correctional Facility in lieu of posting bail.
Tonkin thanked all the agencies involved in the investigation along with the Pike County Sheriff's Office and the Orange County Drug Task Force for their assistance during the investigation. Tonkin commented “The continued partnership between law enforcement from the tri-state area is leading to a safer community by removing drugs from the streets. Drug dealers should know that they will not be able to hide across state boundaries to ply their trade.”
