MILFORD, PA — Pike County District Attorney Raymond J. Tonkin announced the following criminal sentences were issued by Pike County Court of Common Pleas President Judge Gregory Chelak:
Walter Francis Barnes, age 39, of Hawley, PA, was sentenced to five days to six months in the Pike County Jail, fined $300 and a driver’s license suspension of 12 months for the crime of Driving Under the Influence. The state police were dispatched on December 30, 2019, to Route 590 in Lackawaxen Township where Barnes had crashed his vehicle and then fled the scene. When Barnes was located, he exhibited signs of impairment and admitted drinking, crashing his vehicle and walking home. A blood test confirmed a blood alcohol content of .227%.
