Pike County District Attorney Raymond J. Tonkin announced the following criminal sentences were issued by Pike County Court of Common Pleas President Judge Gregory Chelak:

Antonio Morilla, age 56, of Southington, CT, was sentenced to 12 months of probation and fined $2,500.00 for the crime of Possession of Unstamped Cigarettes.  The state police stopped a vehicle for weaving across its lane of travel along I-84 in Blooming Grove Township in which Morillo was a passenger on June 2, 2022.  Both the vehicle occupants displayed indicators of criminal activity.  A consent to search the vehicle revealed 1,470 cartons of cigarettes without a Pennsylvania tax stamp. 

Drew Daniel Johnson, age 36, of Milford, PA, was sentenced to 57 days to 6 months in the Pike County Jail, find $1,200.00 and a driver’s license suspension of 12 months for the crime of Driving Under the Influence and the Summary Offense of Driving While Operating Privilege is Suspended or Revoked.  Johnson was stopped by the state police after he was observed operating his vehicle with a faulty plate lamp along SR 6 and Victory Drive in Milford Township on March 12, 2021. Johnson was observed to have an unsteady gait, an anxious behavior, bloodshot eyes and emitting an odor of an alcoholic beverage.  Johnson admitted to drinking prior to driving.  A preliminary breath test indicated the presence of alcohol.  Johnson refused to submit to a blood test. 

Frank MacChurch, age 62, of Middletown, NY, was sentenced to 12 months less 2 days to 24 months less 2 days in the Pike County Jail, followed by 2 years of probation and a fine of $600.00 for 2 counts of the crime of Retail Theft.  MacChurch took a kayak from a business in Westfall Township valued at $497.00 on June 18, 2020, without paying for it. On December 7, 2020, through December 28, 2020, MacChurch took $945.00 of assorted merchandise from a business in Westfall Township without paying for the items.

Robert W. Francht, age 40, of Greenwood Lake, NY, was sentenced to 90 days to 5 years in the Pike County Jail and a fine of $1,500.00 for the crime of Driving Under the Influence.  The state police responded to SR 434 in Shohola Township where Francht traveled into the lane of incoming traffic and hit another vehicle.  Field Sobriety Tests showed multiple signs of impairment and a blood test confirmed the presence of THC in Francht’s blood. 

Deborah L. Kulp, age 65, of Greentown, PA, was sentenced to 6 months of probation and a fine of $300.00 for the crime of Driving Under the Influence.  Kulp was stopped by the state police for speeding along SR 507 in Greene Township on June 18, 2022.  When speaking with Kulp, the trooper detected the smell of an alcoholic beverage and observed her to have bloodshot, watery eyes.  Kulp admitted to drinking prior to driving.  Field Sobriety Tests showed impairment and a breath test confirmed a blood alcohol content of .103%.

Karen Lynn Graviano, age 53, of Greeley, PA, was sentenced to 48 hours to 6 months in the Pike County Jail, fined $500.00 and had her driver’s license suspended for 12 months for the crime of Driving Under the Influence.  The state police observed Graviano travel across the center line of Market Road and Rowland Road in Lackawaxen Township on May 30, 2022.  When speaking with Graviano, the trooper detected the smell of an alcoholic beverage and observed her to have thick, slurred speech and bloodshot, watery eyes.  Graviano admitted to consuming alcoholic beverages prior to driving.  Graviano was unable to participate in Field Sobriety Tests.  A breath test confirmed a blood alcohol content of .124%.

Nicole Elizabeth Shores, age 30, of Dingmans Ferry, PA, was sentenced to 72 hours to 6 months in the Pike County Jail, fined $1,000.00 and a driver’s license suspension of 12 months for the crime of Driving Under the Influence of Alcohol or a Controlled Substance.  The state police responded to a residence in Dingman Township where Shores had driven to and was engaged in a domestic dispute.  Shores was observed to have a dry mouth and tongue and exhibiting constricted pupils.  Field Sobriety Tests were conducted which showed impairment and a blood test confirmed the presence of THC, Diazepam, Nordiazepam, Oxazepam and Temazepam in her body.

Amber Newell, age 38, of Port Jervis, NY, was sentenced to 12 months to 24 months in the Pike County Jail and fined $1,500.00 for 3 counts of the crime of Retail Theft.  Newell took tools valued at $398.00 from a retail store in Westfall Township on August 4, 2020, without paying the full value for them.  Newell used her employee identification to void numerous items during the store checkout process allowing customers to leave the Westfall Township business without paying the full price, shorting the business $1,132.42.  Then on June 28, 2022, Newell took $142.44 in store merchandise from a retail store in Westfall Township without paying the full value for it.

Louis Lamar Alexander, age 28, presently housed in the Pike County Jail, was sentenced to 2 months to 140 days in the Pike County Jail and fined $400.00 for the crime of Institutional Vandalism.  Alexander did $317.00 in damage to the holding cell at the Magistrate’s Office in Delaware Township on March 30, 2022.  

Chloe Patricia Riehle, age 32, of Stroudsburg, PA, was sentenced to 12 months of probation and fined $600.00 for the crimes of Resisting Arresting and Driving Under the Influence.  Riehle was encountered parked in a restricted area of the Blooming Grove state trooper barrack on October 15, 2022.  When speaking with Riehle, the trooper observed her to be confused, emanating the smell of an alcoholic beverage and having bloodshot, water eyes.  An open beer and half empty bottle of vodka were observed in her vehicle.  Riehle ignored requests for her to exit her vehicle and had to be physically removed, resisting the troopers and putting the troopers’ safety at risk.  Riehle was incapable of participating in Field Sobriety Tests.  Riehle refused to submit to a blood test. 

Anthony Michael Zurlo, age 36, of Old Forge, PA, was sentenced to 72 hours to 6 months in the Pike County Jail, fined $1,000.00 and a 12-month driver’s license suspension. Zurlo was stopped by the state police for an expired registration when observed driving along SR 507 in Palmyra Township on November 7, 2022.  Zurlo was observed with glassy, bloodshot eyes with track marks along his arm.  Zurlo admitted to smoking Marihuana and consuming Suboxone.  Field Sobriety Tests showed multiple clues of impairment.  Zurlo refused to submit to a blood test.

Abagail Brianna McDaniel, age 25, of Paupack, PA, was sentenced to 10 days to 5 years in the Pike County Jail, fined $2,500.00 and had her driver’s license suspended for 18 months for the crime of Driving Under the Influence of a Controlled Substance.  McDaniel was stopped by the state police along SR 507 in Palmyra Township for an expired inspection sticker and inoperable brake light.  When speaking with McDaniel, the trooper detected the smell of Marihuana and observed McDaniel to have pinpoint, constricted pupils with red, watery eyes.  McDaniel admitted to smoking Marihuana prior to the traffic stop.  Field Sobriety Tests indicated impairment and a blood test confirmed the presence of THC and Methadone in her blood.  A minor child was also present in the vehicle.

Carol Ann Defelice, age 60, of Newfoundland, PA, was sentenced to 18 months to 96 months in a state correctional facility, fined $5,000.00 and a driver’s license suspension to be determined by PennDOT for the crimes of Driving Under the Influence of a Controlled Substance and Driving While Operating Privilege is Suspended or Revoked.  The state police observed Defelice driving her vehicle in the lane of oncoming traffic along SR 507 in Greene Township on September 27, 2022.  Defelice exhibited bloodshot, watery eyes with slow and slurred speech.  Field Sobriety Tests showed several signs of impairment.  Defelice admitted to taking multiple prescription drugs prior to driving.  Defelice was found in possession of Marihuana.  Defelice refused to submit to a chemical blood test. 

Matthew Robert Luciano, age 26, of Tafton, PA, was sentenced to 72 hours to 6 months in the Pike County Jail, fined $1,000.00 and had his driver’s license suspended for 12 months for the crime of Driving Under the Influence of a Controlled Substance.  The state police stopped Luciano after observing him committing several traffic infractions along SR 390 in Palmyra Township.  When speaking with Luciano, the troopers observed him to appear dazed, exhibiting a nervous behavior, having red, glossy eyes and emitting the smell of Marihuana.  Luciano admitted to smoking Marihuana previously.  Field Sobriety Tests indicated impairment.  Luciano refused to submit to a chemical blood test. 

Thomas F. Singer, age 33, of Stroudsburg, PA, was sentenced to 197 days to 18 months in the Pike County Jail and a fine of $600.00 for the crimes of Loitering and Prowling at Nighttime and Possession of a Controlled Substance.  The state police responded to a residence in Greene Township where Singer was speaking incoherently and banging on the residence door after being told repeatedly by the property owner to leave on January 29, 2022.  When Singer was placed under arrest and searched he was found in possession of Heroin/Fentanyl.
