George M. Butzko Jr, 75, of Honesdale, PA died on Saturday, January 6, 2024 at Allied Services Hospice Center in Scranton, PA. He is survived by his wife of 35 years, the former Valerie A. Keesler. The couple married on November 12, 1988.

Born on February 2, 1948 in Perth Amboy, NJ, he was the son of the late George M. and Josephine (Sarabuchello) Butzko. George was a U.S. Air Force veteran who served during the Vietnam War.
George worked at the deli at Walmart in Honesdale before becoming ill. He also drove a school bus for Delaware Valley Central School in Callicoon, NY.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by his children: Patricia Barron and husband Daniel of Wake Forest, NC; Jennifer Tester and husband Alan of Hemingway, SC; Victoria Jones and husband Thomas of Spring Hope, NC and Christopher Butzko of Manville, NJ; his brother Andrew Butzko of Port Monmouth, NJ; sister Linda Ryan of Port Monmouth, NJ; his mother-in-law Vera Keesler of Lake Huntington, NY; brother-in-law Walter Keesler of Lake Huntington, NY; sisters-in-law Margaret Lodini and husband John of Huntington, TX and Louise Keesler and fiance Christopher Reynolds of Hawley, PA. Also surviving are his grandchildren, Samantha and Jeremiah Barron, Anthony Butzko and Kayla and Brianna Jones.

A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. on Friday, January 12 at St. Mary Magdalen Church in Honesdale. Interment will be in Glen Dyberry Cemetery in the spring. Friends can visit Hessling Murray Funeral Home, 428 Main St. in Honesdale on Thursday, January 11 from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m.
