Four arrested in Christmas burglary spree

MONTICELLO, NY -- Members of the Village of Monticello Police arrested four individuals who acted in concert, to commit multiple burglaries during the evening on Christmas Eve and into the early morning on Christmas Day.

Arrested were the following individuals:

Tameka A. Robinson
Tameka A. Robinson

Tameka A. Robinson, age 29, of Monticello, charged with the felonies of Burglary 2nd degree (2 counts) and Grand larceny in the 3rd degree.

Joseph H. Koelpin
Joseph H. Koelpin

Joseph H. Koelplin, age 32, of Monticello, charged with the felonies counts of Burglary in the 2nd degree (2 counts) and Grand larceny in the 3rd degree. He was also charged with the misdemeanors of Criminal mischief in the 4th degree (2 counts), Criminal possession of stolen property in the 5th degree and resisting arrest.

Paul A. Ellis, age 37, of Monticello charged with the felonies of Burglary in the 2 nd degree (2 counts) and Grand larceny in the 3 rd degree.

Alexander N. Levine, age 35, of Monticello charged with felonies of Burglary in the 2nd degree (2 counts) and Grand larceny in the 3rd degree.

The arrests were made as a result of an ongoing investigation into multiple reported burglaries, which occurred over an approximate 12 hour period, at the “Broadway Estates," located on Waverly Avenue in the Village of Monticello. Monticello Police were assisted in identifying the suspects, after obtaining video surveillance footage, which recorded the burglaries as they occurred at the complex.

Robinson and Koelpin were arrested Wednesday evening after being located. Koelpin attempted to run from Monticello Police officers, but was caught after a short foot pursuit. Ellis and Levine were located by officers this afternoon (Friday) and taken into custody.

Robinson and Koelpin were arraigned in the Village of Monticello Court before Judge Douglas Solomon and remanded to the Sullivan County Jail on the following bails; Robinson $50,000 cash bail, $75,000 bail bond or $100,000 partially secured surety bond; Koelpin $100,000 cash bail, $150,000 bail bond or $300,000 partially secured surety bond.

Levine and Ellis were arraigned in the Town of Thompson Justice Court before Judge Richard Baum and remanded to the Sullivan County Jail on the following bails; Levine $5000 cash bail, $10,000 bail bond or $40,000 partially secured surety bond; Ellis $100,000 cash bail, $150,000 bail bond or $300,000 partially secured surety bond.

An investigation is continuing and the defendants are expected to be charged with multiple additional counts of burglary and larceny. Assisting Monticello Police were the Sullivan County Sheriff Office and the Sullivan County District Attorney Office.

The filing of an accusatory instrument is merely an accusation and every person is presumed innocent until proven guilty in court.
