HONESDALE, PA — Tousant Ennis is Wayne Memorial Hospital’s Employee of the Year for 2023.
Ennis is a phlebotomist on the second shift at the hospital lab and has been with Wayne Memorial (WMH) for over five years.
He was the Employee of the Month in May, and the recognition was awarded based on nominations from other WMH staff members. Ennis was nominated by not one, not two, but three coworkers who all speak very highly of him, a WMH spokesperson said. All three agreed that “WMH needs more people like Tousant.”
Lab manager John Romano concurred wholeheartedly, “Tousant’s work performance is exemplary. He has become a model for others in his profession.”
At a recent ceremony, and watched by coworkers, medical staff and administrators, Ennis was presented with a plaque and a monetary gift by WMH CEO Jim Pettinato, who thanked the phlebotomist for his exceptional work ethic.
The presentation, to which the employees of the month for 2023 are invited, included cookies and non-alcoholic bubbly.
The Employee of the Year is chosen by the employees of the month from the previous year.
Ennis also received a permanent position on the hospital’s wall of honor near the cafeteria.
