NARROWSBURG, NY — “Decoy,” an exhibition of works by Philadelphia-based artist Seneca Weintraut, will open with a reception from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Saturday, December 9 at the Ruffed Grouse Gallery.
“Decoy” is described as a series of works exploring the parallels of paintings and decoys, “not only in superficial resemblance (being as both are often made of a combination of canvas, paint, and wood), but also conceptually, as aesthetic lures and representations of nature,” a gallery spokesperson wrote.
“Much like the history of painting, the aesthetics and provenance of waterfowl decoys have superseded any intrinsic value based on functionality.”
The exhibition will be open through Sunday, February 25, 2024.
The gallery is located at 144 Main St.
