Daniel Cortese, 60, of Beach Lake, PA, went home to be with the Lord on March 24, 2023 at Wayne Memorial Hospital after an illness. He is survived by two daughters, Danielle Cortese of Honesdale, PA, and Erin Cortese, of Jersey City, NJ.

Born September 17, 1962, to the late John and Doris Maas Cortese, Danny graduated from Narrowsburg Central School in Narrowsburg, NY, in 1980. He was a skilled heavy equipment operator and was happy working in that field most of his life, first as part owner of Cortese Brothers Construction, and in later years for Leeward Construction.

In his younger days, Danny enjoyed playing baseball and softball. He was an avid hunter, a champion skeet shooter and a diehard New York Giants fan. He was a member of the Del View Hunting Club. Most of all, he loved socializing with family and his many friends, and was happy spending time with his grandson Henry. Danny could always be counted on to lend a hand if a friend needed help. He will be remembered for his sense of humor and fun-loving, friendly personality.

Surviving, in addition to his daughters, are his grandson Henry Cortese, brother Richard (Beth) Cortese, sisters Kathy (Ed) Rish, Luanne (Don) Cole, Wendy Samson, and Gail (Tom) Fasshauer, many nieces and nephews. He was reunited in heaven with his parents, brothers-in-law Philip Cole and Jerry Samson, and nephew Samson Fluck.

Funeral services will be held by Pastor Ed Rish at 3 p.m. on Sunday, April 2 at the Beach Lake Free Methodist Church, 107 Milanville Rd., in Beach Lake. Friends can call at the church before the service between 1 p.m. and 3 p.m.

Memorial donations can be made in Danny’s name to the Beach Lake Free Methodist Church, 107 Milanville Rd., Beach Lake, PA 18405, or to Youth for Christ, 1613 Jackson St., Scranton, PA 18503.

Arrangements are by the Harrison Rasmussen Funeral Home, Barryville, NY.
