Cooperative extension offers holiday tips

HAWLEY, PA — Penn State Cooperative Extension says, “It’s the season of giving, so let’s give a little back to the planet that gives so much to us all year long!”

Toward that end, the district offers some holiday tips:

  • Give presents in reusable wrapping like tote bags instead of paper.
  • Resuse cut pieces of old holiday cards as gift tags rather than plastic tags
  • Gift experiences or charity donations rather than items.
  • Call friends and family to send holiday wishes and catch up instead of mailing cards to avoid paper and plastic waste and GHG emissions.
  • Prevent food waste by buying only the quantities you need for your holiday meals and composting what you don’t eat.
