As the month of May kicks off, there is a sense of renewed energy and excitement in the air. Spring is in full bloom, the weather is getting warmer and many of us are looking forward to a new season of possibilities.
Here are a few events that are happening in our community and nearby towns.
The second annual Shad Shindig on Saturday, May 20 takes place from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. at Fort Delaware. It features celebrity chef Annika Sundivik, Nordic Preserves’ Shad Tasting, food from Nikki C’s Seafood and bars by TAP Festival 2022 winners Shrewd Fox Brewery and Rock Valley Spirits. Tickets cost $20.
Women’s Wellness Wednesday continues at Yoga by the Lake. It’s a class designed exclusively for women and girls who are seeking a safe and supportive space to explore the benefits of yoga and self-care. Led by a female instructor, this class offers a unique opportunity for women to connect with their bodies, minds and spirits in a warm and inviting environment. It’s held on Wednesday evenings from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. For more information, email jodisibilia@gmail.com .
The Sullivan County Chamber Orchestra and Nesin Cultural Arts present an evening of exceptional music, fine wine and culinary delicacies at the “Tastes and Sounds of Italy” fundraiser on Sunday, May 21 at 4 p.m. at the Jeffersonville Bake Shop.
The Town of Cochecton will hold its 2023 spring cleanup on Saturday and Sunday, May 20 and 21, from 9 a.m. to 2:45 p.m.
Town of Cochecton residents can bring items to the Cochecton Town Hall, County Route 116, Lake Huntington, NY.
Acceptable items include household junk and bulky waste (furniture, mattresses, carpets, etc.). Iron pipes must be cut to four-foot lengths; drums and tanks must be empty and cut open or crushed. Paint or tar cans must be empty and dry.
NO full or partially full cans of paint; NO commercial dumping; NO household garbage; NO yard waste, leaves, stumps, roots or rocks.
