THOMPSON, NY — The Sullivan County Sheriff’s Office responded to a report of a suspicious vehicle at 409 Rock Hill Drive in the Town of Thompson.

On January 1 at approximately 5 p.m., deputies located two male subjects inside a residence cutting copper pipes off the heating system. Taken into custody was Damien Somolinos, 34, and Richard Galeano Jr., 51, both of Lucky Lake Drive in Rock Hill, NY.

The two suspects were charged with Felony Burglary, and the Misdemeanors of Criminal Mischief and Possession of Burglar Tools. Additionally, Somolinos was found to be in possession of methamphetamine and was charged with Misdemeanor Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance.

Pursuant to New York State Law, both suspects were released on an appearance ticket pending a court appearance in the Town of Thompson on January 29 at 5 p.m. Sheriff Mike Schiff said that this was a prime example of “if you see something, say something.”

“These burglars were caught because their suspicious activity was quickly reported to 911,” said Schiff.
