Burglary suspect arrested

MONTICELLO, NY — Sullivan County sheriff’s deputies arrested Byron T. Santiago, 34, of Woodbourne, NY, and charged him with felony burglary and criminal mischief. 

On Saturday, Nov. 11,at about 9:40 a.m., the sheriff’s office received a report from 911 of a burglary in progress at the City Lights II Tattoo Studio on Route 52 in the Town of Liberty. 

The Village of Liberty Police arrived on the scene first and detained the suspect for the responding sheriff’s unit. The suspect was discovered by an employee who was opening the business for the day. 

The investigation indicated that the suspect allegedly caused damage to the front door when he gained entry. 

Under New York’s bail reform law, he was issued an appearance ticket and released. He is due in the Town of Liberty court on Dec. 6 at 2 p.m.
