LAKE HUNTINGTON, NY — On Wednesday, October 17, Sullivan West High School celebrated the playing-field accomplishments of their junior varsity and varsity-level student-athletes of the fall 2021 season.
In the wake of a welcome by high school principal Mark Plescia, athletic director Dave Eggleton took to the podium to introduce the platform, which consisted of the coaching staff, who in turn introduced their respective teams and announced the well-earned letters, pins and awards.
Of special note, the varsity football team and the girls varsity soccer squad qualified for the playoffs.
Veteran Coach Ron Bauer has been guiding young adults on the fields of athletic competition for more than half a century, and during Sullivan West’s 2021 fall sports awards ceremony he was honored with an engraved plaque in recognition of his recent induction into the New York State Public High School Athletic Association (NYSPHSAA) Section IX Track and Field Hall of Fame.
The award was presented by Coach Anthony Durkin, who was taking a break from his snake-wrangling duties on the high school soccer field.
