ELDRED, NY — If a picture is worth 1,000 words, these young artists did their part to teach others about fire safety.
Members of the Highland Lake Fire Department recently delivered monetary awards and hardy handshakes to Sydney Moscatiello, Hailey Gochenour and Nathan Kinne.
The students won first, second and third prizes respectively at the Mackenzie Elementary School fire safety poster contest. The theme was “Learn the sounds of fire safety.”
The annual contest is sponsored by the Highland Lake, Lumberland and Yulan fire departments. A county-wide contest was also held, and Moscatiello’s work took third prize.
