Supervisor

Daniel Sturm (D) (Sullivan United)

I have proudly served on the Town Board for 20 years, four years as Councilman, and the last 16 as full-time Supervisor. Before that I had 20 years’ management and human resource experience. I am running again because it is important to have this experience for the Town to run well, especially in challenging times.

Despite these historic tough economic times, the Town has been fiscally prudent and responsible every day. We had the lowest tax increases in the County 16 years in a row, and attained a AAA bond rating. The Town Board has worked hard to help our economy, create jobs and encourage growth in the right areas, and protect the farmlands and open spaces at the same time. During my tenure, I have continued to improve the image of Bethel as a place to be and to do business.

Running the Town is serious business, and you need experience, leadership and vision to get it done right.

Town Clerk

Rita J. Sheehan (R) (C)

Being elected as Bethel Town Clerk has been a rewarding experience of serving the constituents and taxpayers of the Town of Bethel. I have worked very closely with people from all walks of life and have treated everyone fairly, compassionately and honestly. Since 2016, I have been the birth and death Registrar. Some of my more technical duties include uploading the Town Transfer Station Monthly Discharge Monitoring Reports (DMRs) for the Town to the EPA Portal. As part of my regular duties, I am the RMO (Records Management Officer) and FOIL Officer (Freedom of Information Law). I continue to publish the Town Monthly Newsletter and upload all information to the Town Website. I am also the Town Facebook Page Administrator. These tools keep you connected on a real-time basis.

I will begin my 27th year on January 1. My doors are always open to ideas and suggestions to help better serve the public. Thank you to the Bethel voters for your continued support of my position as Bethel Town Clerk.

Town Justice

Cindy Barber (D) (Working Families) Town Council Member

(vote for two)

Bernard Cohen (D) (Sullivan United)

Clifford Manning (D) (Sullivan United)

Lisa M. Schick (R) (C) I feel that Bethel’s Town Council is in need of change and fresh insight into the needs and concerns of Bethel’s residents, farmers and business owners.

Our Town Council needs strong, energetic, members who listen to residents when they have concerns and a need for more government transparency and accountability.I believe that to effectively represent the interests of a town and its constituents. I seek election to Bethel Town Council because I am certain my experience and fresh perspective will be of value to the Town Council. For the past 24 years, I have been the Bookkeeper and Program Assistant for the Sullivan County Soil & Water Conservation District and the Secretary to the Treasurer of the Board of Directors.

I am competent and have the experience to deal with the business, environmental, and social issues that are part of a modern growing Bethel.

Wendy E. Brown (R) (C) My name is Wendy E. Brown. I am a homeowner in Bethel for over 30 years and have been a member of the Bethel Zoning Board for over three years. I am committed to good government, which is fair and equitable for all members of the community, while focusing on a healthy community ready and prepared to meet the challenges of the future.

Since 2017, I have worked for Sullivan County, joining as Deputy Director of Public Health and most recently as the Deputy Commissioner for Health and Human Services. I am most proud of working to redesign our Drug Task Force and obtaining Federal HIDTA (High Intensity Drug Trafficking) designation for our county. I am committed to good government, which is fair and equitable for all members of the community. My focus will be thoughtful, planned growth, and its impact on our environment and the quality of life in our community.

Superintendent of Highways

Robert Bonnaci, Jr. (D) (Sullivan United)

As a lifelong resident of the Town of Bethel, I have proudly served as a Town Highway employee for over 20 years. With over 150 miles of roads to maintain I have been able to upgrade our road service for the benefit of our Town of Bethel residents, all while staying within the Highway budget. I continue to utilize my experience to deploy the highway employees and equipment in a cost-effective manner to benefit the taxpayers of our town.Being a hands-on working Superintendent alongside the highway workers in every aspect of the job is an overall benefit to everyone.
