Bernard "Bernie" Kunkeli of Narrowsburg, NY passed away at Garnet Health Medical Center in Middletown, NY on December 30, 2023, surrounded by family.

He was born on September 4, 1947 to the late Bernard J. Kunkeli Sr. and Mary Etta Rundle Wood in Narrowsburg.

Bernie will always be remembered for his many kind acts. He was always there when the family, a friend or a neighbor needed a helping hand. He was a talented man who could fix just about anything. He will be dearly missed by family and friends who relied upon him for so much.

He is survived by his two sons: Todd B. Kunkeli and Yancy W. Kunkeli (Theresa Kunkeli); his six grandchildren: Katelyn Kunkeli, Erika Johnson (Dillon Johnson), Yancy J. Kunkeli, Shay Kunkeli, Ty Kunkeli and Todd A Kunkeli; and his great-granddaughter, Rayna J. Johnson. He is also survived by his love of many years Diane Kestler and her two children, Jonathan Von Steenburgh and Michelle Von Steenburgh (Justin Orapello); his sister Rose Fredricks and her three children: Darren Brodmerkel, Lance Brodmerkel and Conni Visneski. He is preceded in death by his parents Bernard J. Kunkeli Sr. and Mary Etta Rundle Wood and his daughter-in-law Chantel Kunkeli.

The family would like to thank the staff at Garnet Health Medical Center in Middletown for their caring support during his last illness.

Bernie wanted a simple cremation with no ceremony. There will be a celebration of life in April of 2024 for people to gather and celebrate his great life.  Arrangements were by the Harrison Rasmussen Funeral Home, Barryville, NY.
