Hope everyone had a fun Valentine’s Day with your loved ones, with celebrations both big and small. There were so many local restaurants that were offering special meals and drinks like Peppino’s in Callicoon, Kenoza Hall, Tavern on Main, Henning’s Local. Support local!

President’s Day weekend is coming upon us quickly, and with schools closed on Monday, February 21, that provides the ideal time for a family outing, getaway or a fun outdoor activity.

The Forest School will be holding an Open House on Saturday, February 19 from 12 noon to 1 p.m. so you can learn more about their programs for spring, summer camp or fall. They are located at 132 Hospital Rd., Callicoon, NY.

The second annual SnO&W Fun Run/Walk will be held on February 26 at 10 a.m. All ages are welcome. Meet at the trailhead on Hill Street and State Street in Liberty and enjoy an approximately three-mile walk or run on flat terrain along the beautiful O&W Rail Trail (1.5 miles in and 1.5 miles back to the starting point). They will also have a short fun run of approximately one mile from State Street trailhead to Carrier Street and back. Afterward, there will be refreshments for all participants and their families at the finish line. Dogs are welcome but must be leashed.

The Callicoon Theater recently re-opened, and we could not be happier. Truly a great venue for a movie and located by numerous restaurants/bars in Callicoon for a great evening! Visit them online (www.thecallicoontheater.com) for their schedule of movies.

The VIP Kids Club in Honesdale, PA, is hosting a Let’s Get Artsy Party. On Saturday, February 26, from 10 a.m. to 12 noon, there will be a fun two-hour inspired paint and play party. There will be instructor-led painting with intermissions, so kids can play on the fun indoor playground. It’s the perfect activity for guardians and children to bond and create a memory together.  Light snacks and refreshments included. Purchase tickets on Eventbrite or at the front desk.

The cost is $25/person. https://www.eventbrite.com/e/lets-get-artsy-party-tickets-254666162347

It is with a heavy heart that I offer condolences for the passing of past Fire Police Captain Gerald P. Kinney of the Lake Huntington Fire Department, who passed away earlier this month. Our thoughts and prayers are with his family and friends.

Sincere condolences to the family and friends of Louis Furino as well, who passed away at the end of January. Hold your loved ones close.

If you have a local business that you would like to have spotlighted in an upcoming column, please get in touch! Please email jenn@jennpowelldesigns.com with any news, events, and happenings.
