REGION — Applications are now available for grants from the Make a Difference Fund, which was established by the Community Foundation of Orange and Sullivan (CFO&S) Board of Directors nearly 10 years ago. This fund distributes grants annually to organizations that provide programs and services to children of low-income, disadvantaged, or distressed families.
Since inception, the Foundation, with its donors and fund representatives, has awarded more than $14 million in grants and scholarships. The CFO&S has established more than 300 charitable funds that support animal welfare, arts and culture, community initiatives, education, the environment, health and human services, recreation and youth.
This year, in honor of the 20th anniversary of the Make a Difference Fund, $20,000 in grants will be distributed.
During this grant cycle, the foundation is seeking applications for projects or programs with a focus on wellness, recreation and exercise. Grants of up to $5,000 are available to nonprofits in Orange and Sullivan counties that meet the fund’s criteria.
Applications must be received by 5 p.m. on Friday, September 6. The recipients and awards will be announced at the foundation’s annual reception on November 20 at Anthony’s Pier 9 in New Windsor. The full application can be found at www.cfosny.org.
