HONESDALE, PA — The Greater Honesdale Partnership (GHP), will present “Discover Honesdale” on Saturday, May 19 starting at 10 a.m. Honesdale is rife with history, and history will be one of the themes of the day. Placed in various Main Street shop windows will be posters that show the history of that building. There will also be a QR-code walking tour along with 50 ways to discover Honesdale; the information will be in boxes hung from four light poles along Main Street. For more local historical color, stop by the Old Stone Jail, located at the corner of 10th and Court Street, just behind the Wayne County Courthouse from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.
From 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., the Stourbridge Line will offer rides aboard a “speeder”—gas-powered motorcars are typically used as track inspection vehicles and ride on the steel rails used by the trains. The Stourbridge Line will also offer an open house on Torrey Lane from 10 to 2 p.m., where the Presidential car, the passenger cars, caboose and engines can be toured
Vendors will line up on sidewalks offering various handmade and craft items for sale, there will be a DJ at the Pavilion on Main Street, and the inaugural Canaltown Moving Movie Festival will be held from 5 to 9 p.m. at RE/MAXWayne, Loose Leaf Pages, and Here & Now Brewery. There will be many more events as well; for full details visit www.visithonesdalepa.com/honesdale-event/1728/.
