On October 24, 2024, Fallsburg Police conducted an investigation into a report of stolen property after the Bedford Police Department requested assistance in locating a stolen trailer from a business in Katonah, NY that was reportedly at a residence off of State Route 42 in Fallsburg.
Upon further investigation, it was discovered through the use of the Fallsburg Police Department drone that the reported trailer was in fact at the residence in Fallsburg and a search warrant for the property was obtained. Fallsburg Police, along with the Bedford Police Department, executed the search warrant on the property that evening, where the stolen trailer was recovered.
This investigation then led to the discovery of multiple other trailers that were on the property that had also been reported as stolen to police. The stolen trailers, along with multiple tractors and construction equipment, were recovered by police at this time.
The resident was identified by police as Martin Vuksanaj and he was taken into police custody for possession of stolen property. During the execution of the search warrant, Fallsburg Police also discovered narcotics inside of Vuksanaj's residence.
Mr. Vuksanaj was charged with criminal possession of stolen property in the second degree and criminal possession of a controlled substance in the fourth degree, both felonies. Vuksanaj was then arraigned in the Town of Fallsburg Justice Court by the Honorable Judge Scheinman and was then remanded to the Sullivan County Jail. Mr. Vuksanaj is due back in the Town of Fallsburg Justice Court at a later date.
Criminal charges are merely allegations that a defendant has committed violations of the criminal law, and as such they are not evidence of guilt. All defendants have a presumption of innocence and are entitled to a fair trial, during which it will be the burden of the State of New York to prove guilt beyond a reasonable doubt.
