LAKE HUNTINGTON, NY — Christmas came early for the Sullivan West boys’ varsity bucketeers on Wednesday, December 18. The home team Dawgs posted their first win of the season as they defeated the Bears of Tri-Valley, 70-56.
The Bulldogs (1-3) edged the visitors 14-13 in the opening frame, only to watch the Bears (2-5) come back in the second period 18-15, and take a slim two-point lead (31-29) into the locker room at the half.
In the third period, Sullivan West let the “Dawgs” out as they outscored Tri-Valley 27-13.
In the final frame, the Bears rebounded slightly to out-gun Sullivan West 15-14 but, in the final analysis, came up short.
Sullivan West’s top scorers included Evan Ebert (24 points, including four three-pointers and 8/8 at the FTL), Seamus Johnson (13 points, including three three-pointers), and Brandon Haass (11). Matty Dubois and Charlie Kutchera each added three-pointers.
Tri-Valley’s leading scorers included Owen Miller (22 including six three-pointers), Josh Fanslau (15), and Yan Zheliazouski (11). Sean Woods contributed a three-pointer.
