GRAHAMSVILLE, NY — We’re not in Kansas anymore.
But instead of a pair of glittering ruby-red slippers being the ticket home, it was a set of mismatched blue-and-red basketball shoes worn by the Bears’ Boe Mueller that helped the Tri-Valley varsity hoopsters defeat the Tornadoes of Tuxedo 64-44 in Friday’s non-league homestand matchup.
The Bears (6-7) outpaced the visitors (0-10) in the first two frames (26-15 and 11-9). Tuxedo rebounded in the third period (13-7), but the team’s resurgence was a bit short-lived, and fell short in the final inning, 7-20.
Leading scorers for Tri-Valley: Josh Fanslau (24 points, including a three-pointer); Boe Mueller (12 points, all three-pointers); Yan Zheliazouski (10 points); Sean Woods (eight points, including two three-pointers).
Tuxedo: Loan Saari-Poznanske (12 points); Mo Berthe (seven, including a three-pointer); Max Mitchell (six points, including a three-pointer); Lagan Bello (six points); Chris Lherisson (five points, including a three-pointer); Santana Jackson (five points, including a three-pointer); and Will Sandak scored a three-pointer.
