April “Penny” Rose, 72, of Williamsport, PA, passed away Tuesday, December 9, 2025, at UPMC Williamsport. Born April 12, 1953, in Scranton, PA, she was the daughter of the late Hans “John” Welz and Ethel Welz Kinne.
April was a graduate of Narrowsburg High School in Narrowsburg, NY, and later pursued her CDL. For many years, she was a familiar and friendly face as a barista at the Dunkin’ Donuts in Newberry, PA, where she shared her warm smile and kindness with countless customers.
April found joy in life’s simple pleasures: loving dogs, crocheting, cooking and baking for those she cared about. Above all else, her greatest joy and proudest role was being an Oma, a title she cherished deeply and lived out with endless love, patience and devotion.
Surviving is her son Frederick Rose (Stephanie Fischer) of Williamsport; a daughter-in-law Danielle Rose of Michigan; six grandchildren; and her siblings: Betty Oppelt, Carl Bonitz (Bette), Eleanor Myers (Fred), Rita Welz and Mulle Welz; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her son, Keith Rose.
A memorial service will be held privately at the convenience of the family. Online condolences can be made on her memorial page at www.SandersMortuary.com.
