David Patrick Neenan, 59, of Welcome Lake, PA passed away unexpectedly Friday September 18. He was born in Lewiston, NY on February 3, 1967 to the late David W. and Patricia Brady Neenan. He is survived by Kathleen (Meyer) Neenan, his wife of 35 years.

David’s path had many forks over the years. A wanderlust at heart, he was always looking for a new challenge. The highest mountain to snow ski, the biggest wake for water skiing, the best score in trap shooting and the most unique landscape to create. His travels took him worldwide and gave him many stories that he shared with friends and family. Those who met him knew David Neenan always had a story to tell (sometimes a Tall one), a lesson to teach or a memory to share.

He had many talents and hospitality/management and outdoor adventures were the culmination of his career. He enjoyed passing on his knowledge in these areas. The man was never happier than when he was orchestrating, organizing or teaching. David thrived on being active and trying new ideas.
The most important job in his life, however, he felt, was his role as father, brother, husband, uncle, father-in-law and papa. He was fiercely protective of, and loyal to family and friends. Always there for any who needed a hand.

At this point in his life, his granddaughter Ila had become the light of his life. Rarely a day would go by that he wasn’t engaged in teaching her a new outdoor skill.

Lastly, he was rarely seen on the property without his faithful canine companion, German Shepherd Stella. Those two: thicker than thieves. Stella was always hoping for a ride in the truck, the side-by-side and even on the tractor.

David will be greatly missed by so many; however, he also leaves so many great memories.

He is also survived by sons Brady (Lanie) Neenan and Riley Neenan; brother Shawn Neenan; sister Colleen Neenan; granddaughter Ila Neenan; nephews Kyle (Amber)Eldred, Patrick (Hannah)Neenan and Corey (Abbey)Neenan; and nieces Katlin Whiteman, Olivia Neenan and Emilia (Lance) Morgan.

A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Thursday, September 24 at St. Mary Magdalen Church in Honesdale at 10 a.m. Interment will follow in Indian Orchard Cemetery.
