KAUNEONGA LAKE, NY — The American Foundation for Suicide Prevention (AFSP) will hold its Out of the Darkness Community Walk in Sullivan County on Sunday, October 6, Participants will leave at 12 noon from the Bethel Senior Center, 3592 State Rte. 55.

Sullivan County residents will join hundreds of thousands of people across the country in the Out of the Darkness Community Walks to prevent suicide and support AFSP’s mission to save lives and bring hope to those affected by suicide.

Sullivan County residents should register either as individual walkers or in teams. The goal is to have over 100 walkers this year.

On-site registration for the walk will be at 11 a.m. Refreshments will be available.

“The route is an easy walk, not arduous at all,” said Lori Schneider, executive director of NAMI Sullivan County, who professes to be the slowest walker ever.

Well behaved, leashed pooches are welcome to walk as well.

To register, visit www.afsp.org/SullivanCounty. To help on the day of the event, or help publicize it by putting out flyers and stacks of Walk Cards or lawn signs, or would like further information, call 845/794-1029.
