BARRYVILLE, NY — The Sullivan County Semiquincentennial Commission will unveil a new minuteman statue at the Minisink Battleground on Saturday, October 24.
The morning’s events will begin at 10:30 a.m. with light refreshments at the Benjamin Tusten Memorial Pavilion just off the parking lot at 17 Monument Road. The dedication of the statue—including a few short speeches—will follow at approximately 11 a.m.
Debra Conway, executive director of the Delaware Company and co-chair of the Sullivan County Semiquincentennial Commission, will then lead a history hike along the battleground trails beginning at approximately 11:30 a.m.
It will be the first time the statue—procured by the Semiquincentennial Commission with funding from New York State (via the Sullivan County Legislature) and the Delaware Company and erected and landscaped by the County Department of Public Works and Department of Parks, Recreation and Beautification—will be seen by the public, the Delaware Company said.
