Shopping small

Posted

UPPER DELAWARE REGION — From Pike to Wayne, from Narrowsburg and Callicoon to Monticello and more, the area will be hopping on Saturday, November 29—a day to remember our small, local businesses.
The observance was launched in 2010 as a way of reminding those who’d been spending hard-earned cash at big box stores and online that small businesses matter too.
The Small Business Administration (SBA) notes that in 2023, projected spending in the U.S. from those who shopped at small businesses on the Saturday after Thanksgiving was around $17 billion.
Since 2010, the total reported U.S. spending at small businesses during the annual Small Business Saturday event is an estimated $201 billion.
Small Business Saturday was created by and is promoted by American Express. It is co-sponsored by the SBA.
