At 4:55 PM this afternoon, Saturday, July 15th, 2023, Monticello Police responded to a 911 report of a shooting in the parking lot of building #19 of the “Sleepy Hollow” Apartment Complex located at Terry Lane in the Village of Monticello. A 27 year-old Monticello Woman had been shot once in the abdomen during an altercation. The victim was transported by private vehicle from the scene of the shooting, prior to Monticello Police arriving. A Sullivan County Sheriff patrol located the vehicle transporting the victim while it was enroute to Garnet Harris Medical Center and provided an escort to the emergency room. The victim was subsequently transported to Garnet Orange Medical Center by Life Net Medevac Air Ambulance and she was listed as being in stable condition at this time.

A search for the suspect in the complex following the shooting was negative. An investigation is actively ongoing at this time and anyone with information about this incident can call Monticello Police in confidence at 845-794-4422. Monticello Police are being assisted by the New York State Police, Sullivan County Sheriff Office and the Sullivan County District Attorney Office. This is the 2nd person to be shot this year, at the same location of the complex. On April 2nd, 2023, a 20 year-old male was also shot. That investigation is still continuing.
