MONTGOMERY, NY — The Community Foundation of Orange and Sullivan (CFOS) recently awarded $735,235 in scholarships to local students pursuing higher education at colleges, universities and trade schools. Through more than 123 component funds, CFOS continues to provide critical financial support to graduating seniors and adult learners across the region.
CFOS also expanded access by welcoming homeschooled applicants for the first time, awarding $4,000 to two recipients.
A scholarship reception was held at Winding Hills Golf Club in Montgomery.
“The awarding of CFOS scholarships reflects our mission in action: fostering educational opportunity and building stronger futures, one student at a time,” said Elizabeth Rowley, CFOS president/CEO. “These scholarships are more than financial support—they’re a message to our students that their community believes in them.”
Sullivan County students received $412,900 in scholarships, the most in the region. Livingston Manor Central School District students in particular received $260,000. Students in Port Jervis Central School District received $90,000 in scholarships.
