Wayne Pike Workforce Alliance is excited to announce the start of a new year of its SHINE (Schools & Homes in Education) After-School Program, bringing engaging educational enrichment, career exploration, STEM activities, and hands-on learning opportunities to students throughout Wayne and Pike counties. The SHINE team is excited to welcome students back for another year of learning, exploration, and growth. Programming will begin on October 1, 2026, at Wallenpaupack Area North Primary School, Wallenpaupack Area North Intermediate School, and Wallenpaupack Area Middle School. Additional SHINE centers at Dingman Delaware Elementary School, Wallenpaupack Area South Elementary School, and Wayne Highlands S.D. Lakeside Elementary School will open on October 5, 2026. Students across Wayne and Pike counties will have access to enriching after-school opportunities that foster academic success, career awareness, creativity, and essential life skills. This year, students will participate in an exciting lineup of career-themed projects, STEM activities, and interactive learning experiences designed to spark curiosity and help young people connect their interests to future career possibilities. Through hands-on enrichment opportunities, students will develop critical thinking, teamwork, communication, and problem-solving skills while exploring pathways that can lead to lifelong success. SHINE remains committed to creating safe, supportive, and engaging environments where students can strengthen academic skills, build confidence, and discover their unique talents beyond the school day. By combining education, career awareness, and experiential learning, the program helps prepare students for future opportunities while fostering a love of learning. "We are thrilled to welcome students back for another year of SHINE. This year's programming includes many new career-focused activities and projects that will inspire exploration, creativity, and personal growth. We look forward to helping students learn new skills, discover potential career interests, and build confidence through meaningful, hands-on experiences." said Cathy Gavey, Interim Director of SHINE at Workforce Alliance.
