ONLINE — For those with trees or berry plants or those starting a small orchard, Penn State Extension will offer a webinar, “Living on a Few Acres: Tree and Small Fruit Production,” on Thursday, February 13 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. This session is designed for the beginning producer or homesteader or for those looking to become more self-sufficient in producing tree fruit or small fruit.

Presenters will discuss basic concepts with an eye toward helping participants eventually enjoy a fruit harvest from their own acreage or backyard. Participants will learn about tree-fruit production, selecting tree-fruit varieties, planting trees, and cultural needs and production methods of small-fruit crops.

The “Living on a Few Acres” webinar series covers basic information on how to get started and provides resources with more advanced information for participants to continue pursuing goals or hobbies. Topics have included beekeeping, syrup making, vegetable gardening, mushroom production, home food preservation, backyard greenhouses and other homesteading topics.

Participants must register by 6 p.m. February 13 to receive the link to access the live webinar. A $5 registration fee accompanies the event. Registrants also will receive access to the webinar recording.
